Tomato Dhaniya Shorba

I was first introduced by this dish in an Indian restaurant in Indonesia and fell in love instantly!! Tomato dhania shorba is very appetizing and delicious version of tomato soup. Shorbas were made popular by the princes and maharajas in India. This is full of the goodness of tomatoes and coriander.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Complexity: Very Easy


  • Tomatoes,finely chopped-  4 medium
  • Fresh Coriander- 2tbsp
  • Garlic,crushed  – 4,6 cloves
  • Black pepper                                                                                                                                                                            1
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar -1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seed -1/2 tsp
  • Butter – 1tsp


  1. Heat the butter in a pan, add crushed garlic,cumin seed
  2. Then finely chopped tomatoes and salt
  4. Cover and cook for 4 to 5 minutes or till tomatoes become tender and mushy
  5. Add chili powder, sugar, black paper and 4 cups of water
  6. Boil it for 3 to 4 minutes
  7. Add chopped coriander and boil it again for 2 minutes
  8. Serve hot
