Oat Lentils Pancakes

Oats and lentils are super nutritious, healthy and tasty combination. These pancakes, can be useful for breakfast, lunch or dinner as well. This is an useful option for people on diet.

Ingredients:

  • Powdered oats – 1 cup
  • Toor dhal – 1/4 cup
  • Chana dhal – 1/4 cup
  • Moong dhal – 1/4 cup
  • Rice powder -2 tbsp [ optional ]
  • Onion finely chopped – 2 medium
  • Red chillies – 2
  • Green chilis -2
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic paste – 4,5
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander seeds -1 /2 tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Fresh coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – to toast

Steps:

  1. Rinse the lentils in running water thoroughly and soak them for at least 3-4 hours.
  2. Drain water and grind the lentils with red chillies, fennel seeds, green chilis and cumin seeds to form a coarse paste.
  3. In bowl, add the ground paste with powdered oats. Add chopped onions, coriander leaves, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala and turmeric powder
  4. Add water to make the batter consistent. The batter is ready. Keep aside for an hour.
  5. Heat a dosa tawa
  6. Pour a ladle full of batter in the center of tawa
  7. Spread it in circular direction (same like done for dosa). Please choose your own thickness. My husband likes it crispy and hence I try to make them as thin as possible. Kids may prefer thick & soft pancakes.

  9. Drizzle some oil and cook on both the sides till becomes golden brown.
  10. Serve with coconut chutney
