Oats Uttapam

Healthy version of South Indian uttapam!.. Tastes bit like egg omelette and made from Oats! I, actually, did not need any chutney at all and tastes quite good despite being healthy food!

Ingredients:

  • For Batter
  • Quick cooking Oats – 2 cup
  • Semolina/Suji – 1 cup
  • Curd – 2 tbsp
  • Baking Powder – 1tsp
  • Asafoetida (Hing) Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Water (Approx.)- 1 and 1/2 cup
  • Salt To Taste

 

  • For Topping
  • Onion chopped -1 and 1/2 cup
  • Tomato chopped – 1 cup
  • Green Chillies chopped -3 ,4
  • Coriander leaves chopped – 1/4 cup
  • Salt To Taste
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Olive oil – 1 tsp

Steps:

  1. Take all batter ingredients in grinder and make thick Coursing Consistency paste
  2. Then add baking powder, salt and mix well
  3. Keep batter aside for ½ hour.
  4. Heat a tawa and brush it with oil

  6. Pour one ladle of batter in the centre of the tawa.
  7. Spread the batter in a circular motion just like regular dosa or pancake.[Cook the uttapam on low flame for best texture and color.]
  8. Sprinkle some onion, tomato, green chilis and chopped coriander leaves
  9. Cover the uttapam with a lid and cook for a minute.
  10. Open, flip and cook the other side( uncovered) .
  11. Cook this side till the veggies are lightly caramelized or golden.
  12. Remove and serve oats uttapam hot or warm with Chutneys of your choice
